Jack Hogsden has continued a large amount of independent research since graduating from Newcastle University, where he studied BA Folk & Traditional Music. Since then, he has continued to study the variations and transmission of the song via the oral tradition, and has an extensive library of research and materials. With over 250 rare publications, hundreds of out-of-print vinyl (particularly early EFDSS pressings), and a specific skillset when it comes to data mining and sourcing information in online archives, Jack is able to assist with finding obscure versions of songs for research and performative use. As well as this, Jack is working on his first publication, 'In Comes I... The Sussex Mummers Plays Collection of Dennis Outred', where he is providing (in some cases, for the first time) the original texts of these plays with comparative essays. Jack is also the lead archivist for the John Bacon Collection, which is currently being developed in conjunction with Ditchling Morris.

Jack is available for providing talks, lectures, and seminars on matters surrounding folk music, song, dance, and the customs associated with these areas of study.

If you would like Jack to assist you on matters concerning the above subjects, please contact him using the artist enquiries email at the bottom of this page.
