Welcome, and What a Month!

Hello all!

Welcome to the blog section of my site, which is very new and fancy! I thought I'd do this so that you can keep up to date with the behind the scenes action of all that I have going on, keep you updated, and just ramble a bit if I need to!

August so far has been nothing short of incredible. The first highlights came in the form of Broadstairs Folk Week, where I performed a concert with my dad on the Saturday, and ventured back for a solo show on the Wednesday. It was so lovely to see so many of you there supporting these events, and I really do hope to go back to Broadstairs in the future. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to take many photos, but I did drop in to see my good friends in Banter for their family ceilidh. As always, a fantastic show, and it was great to see them in action.

Last week I stumbled onto a very unique opportunity, which found me working with the team at Forests Without Frontiers (http://www.forestswithoutfrontiers.org/). They were interested in having some local traditional folk musicians work with them on a research documentary, where a section involves the Copper Family. It was a pleasure to go around Rottingdean with the film crew and director to perform at the iconic Rottingdean Mill. This documentary will be shown at the Brighton Dome on Thursday 20th November, and tickets can be found here: https://brightondome.org/whats-on/LuR-enchanting-forest/.

Make sure to get your tickets, as this event WILL SELL OUT!

Yesterday was an incredibly busy day for Belver, as we ventured out for our first professional photoshoot with the incredible Catherine Gregson-Bourke. Catherine has had her photography used on EFDSS magazine covers, in papers, and has a deep connection with Sussex folklore and customs. She is also a dancer for local morris side Cuckoo's Nest, so it was very odd to see her in civvies!

We started off in Lewes at a variety of locations, before we ventured up to the beautiful Ditchling Beacon. It was amazing to work with her, and the photos that we have already started to receive look incredible; I can't wait to share them with you!

We concluded the day with a concert at the Duke of Wellington in Shoreham, where we always have a great time. Harry managed to make a bow explode (again), but this time he didn't even get through the opening number! We always have so much fun at concert shows, and we already can't wait to see you all at the next one!

Today has been a very heavy day for admin and planning, with lots of preperation for future online workshops (you should book onto these), teaching (you should book a lesson or two), updating gig lists (come to our shows!), and working on the label site (where you can buy lots of exciting goodies!). This week sees more studio work, teaching, and more, before I venture off to the North Yorkshire Moors for a lovely weekend of singing with some close friends and family; I'll be sure to put some photos on the next blog post!

Take care everyone, and I'll see you next time!

Jx
